Anchorman 2 Gay Parody Scene Deleted…

This scene was deleted at last minute….In one scene in the new Anchorman 2 trailer, Ron and the team are seen welcoming a new member of staff to the office – a gay man. “You’re not black or Asian, what are you?” asks Ron. “Im gay,” comes the reply. “Do you sleep in a coffin?” “Are you allowed out in the sun?” and “Are you a vampire?” comes the flurry of questions. Now, our family went to see the Anchorman 2 movie on Saturday and for not seeing the first movie, my wife and I thought it had some funny moments.  I am reading mixed but more on the downside reviews of this movie.  It wasn’t until we were eating lunch on Sunday when one of our boys remembered the movie trailer/preview that showed the new guy getting barraged with questions.  The new guy said he was gay, and from there the questions went from vampire, to sunlight, coffin… I will say it was a funny scene on the preview.  It was a parody of meeting a gay person.  In the 1970’s it wasn’t as acceptable to be openly gay, and I think this scene in the movie was demonstrating that lack of today’s liberal-political movement.

shutterstock_78570940What I want to connect in this writing is that we were seeing this preview just days before its debut.  I don’t know the exact timing, but the recent “Duck Dynasty” – Phil Robinson interview where Phil expressed his Christian views, maybe with a lack of luster, that the act of homosexuality is a sin- and the pulling of this scene from the movie, I don’t think are a coincidence.  I appears that any opposing opinions, questioning, or be it crude comedy of homosexual relations is hypersensitive and bordering, just the lack of law, forbidden.  When we have big business afraid of this topic, then we know, there must be a ton of push against an opposing view.  We are witnessing this right now surrounding the views by Phil Robertson and his elimination from the Duck Dynasty show by A&E.

I have some questions as I am sure you do as well.  Please let me know how you feel, what your thoughts are on this issue.  Is America losing its freedom of speech – without changing the law? Is it only acceptable in our society to express agreeable views and not opposing views?  Where is the room for our freedom of religion?  We need to talk America.  Let me hear from you.
