A&E plans on launching an ad campaign on “Unity, Tolerance, and Acceptance of all people”, according to Entertainment Weekly… This follows the announcement of the reinstatement of Phil Robertson to the Duck Dynasty family cast, just after a week since they first announced that Phil would be absent indefinitely.
Is this a win -win situation? I think that we all realized that, even if for financial reasons, A&E wasn’t going to do without Phil for too long. I truly believe that the only reason A&E is “letting” Phil back on the show is for financial reasons. It appears that A&E is trying to save face by announcing this “Unity, Tolerance, and Acceptance of all people” message campaign- as a way to help keep cool heads on the other side. While it wasn’t clear if the Robinsons would be contributing to the A&E campaign, I would believe that if the campaign had a different goal such as “Love One Another”, they would be onboard.
It seems with this A&E campaign that the network has again missed the point with Christianity. Christianity isn’t about acceptance of all people. It is about loving all people where they are and in sharing something that was freely given to someone else who doesn’t already know it. Christ is the one great thing that we can share with anyone who will listen. The only tolerance in our world comes from our God who is indeed “United”, with His people, and has chosen to sacrifice His only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ – for all our sins, the sins of the world. Until the end day is come, He will be “Tolerant” and patient for those who still have yet to know Him. God Bless.
