October 3rd 2014 Mark Your Calendars.

Mark your calendars for October 3rd.  This will be the opening of the movie Left Behind starring Nicolas Cage.  I am happy to see that more of the mainstream studios and producers are getting behind the bandwagon that was initially a thorn in their side (no pun intended) placed by the string of movies produced by Sherwood Pictures.  It is tough to ignore the power of God’s word even if it is wrapped in a movie script.  The bible says that we are all born with the inner knowledge of God’s presents in our lives (Romans 1:20) NIV, the invisible things of him; although we can try to ignore it or not acknowledge it is there, it will never leave us.  You may ask how is this revealed in us and I would say that it is revealed whether we acknowledge Him or deny Him.  The old saying, “Actions speak louder than words!”- is true.  It is by our actions that living Christ like or not will be exposed.  We are witnessed every day by our families, friends and strangers, where you live, where you work, where you play- as my church might say.

The other thing that calls attention to how we know we were created for God and by God. Go back to before you were a Christian or before you accepted Christ, for me that wasn’t too many years ago.  Do you ever recall that feeling of not being satisfied with “stuff”; it can be any kind of stuff.  It can be physical things, like a new car, a boat, an RV, closets full of clothes, maybe a second home…or it can be our actions that try to fill that void, such as getting back at someone for what they did to you or you can imagine other things.  Well you know how it goes for a while the new “stuff” feeling is great and you just can’t imagine anything better than cruising around in that new car.  You also discover that those feelings begin to wear off and often times that new “stuff” feels like a new “burden”.  You have to take care of it, it is a payment every month, it starts to get old, etc…  These are the things that we try to fill in that inner “need” we all have.  We even try to fill in those needs with activities, doing this every day, or that every day, we run with our kids here and there…. My point is that we naturally want to fill our lives with this “need”, and it can take up our whole lives and all of our time so easily.  I am guilty of this just as well.

The point is that we are all born with a “need”. This need is God given by design.  The problem is that all of us at some point are filling this need with stuff, and things, and this and that, but not the right thing.  You know the other saying, “Money can’t buy you happiness”.  This is true.  It will buy you some time where you think you are happy, but in the end all you have is “stuff”.

This need is a relationship with God, with Jesus. This need is by design a perfect fit with God.  We have all been trying to put the square block in the round hole, and it doesn’t work.  You can buy a hammer and beat that block through the whole, because you are stubborn and determined, but it still doesn’t fit.  We have to come to a point where we admit we cannot do it alone, we cannot do it right, and we cannot be God.  It is at this point when/if you call out to God to Jesus, He will answer and begin to clean out your “stuff” – the empty and evil things in your heart will begin to be replaced in a relationship with Jesus.  Don’t get me wrong, this is a working relationship not a one way street; I always say don’t jump off the train too soon.  But Jesus made the first step toward you, a one of a kind sacrifice of himself so that our relationship can be restored and made new.  God does love each one of us, and is calling to each one of us….don’t let the “stuff” get in the way.  Answer His call; it will change your life, your world, and your desires.

Enjoy the movie; I sure hope the big studios did a great job on this one… God Bless..
